50mm Lens Meetup

Saturday 16 August
Warrington Bank Quays Train Station - 10am - 2 Hours
Esther Adeola Seriki
The 50mm lens is one of the flexible and useful lenses in any photographer’s gear bag. It is neither a wide-angle or telephoto lens, but allows the camera to see on the same scale as your eye. As such, it can be used for a variety of styles, from landscape and street photography to portrait and product photography. In this meetup, we’ll review the basic camera settings. We’ll then cover some of the advantages of shooting with a prime lens, and some basic techniques to using the 50mm lens. As always, there will be ample opportunities for you to put your new knowledge into practice.

It was good to meet up with other warrington photographers and I really loved the sharing of experiences and social media. Esther was really great...put up with my lack of technical skills with patience. Good that it all happened in the town centre rather than Liverpool or Manchester. I look forward to more workshops in Warrington. G.S. .

I was so lucky that no-one else turned up, so had Esther all to myself. Great lady. Very knowledgeable and very patient. Explained things in ways to help me understand. Took time to work through my camera and help figure it out. Took time to look through my shots and make suggestions, but also praise where good decisions were made. Had a great time and feel much more confident to get out there and make more use of my camera.

I really enjoyed the nature class. It was a small group so we had a nice walk around the park looking for interesting things to capture. Robert was really friendly & informative & he taught us about camera settings & composition. It was a fun & relaxed way to learn & I would recommend it to anyone. I took my phone as I don't own a camera & I still got a lot out of the class & learnt how to use some of the pro/manual settings.

As photographers, I believe we are the Creator?s creators, interpreters of the divine through the lens. Capturing moments of creation is a one-time opportunity each moment is fleeting, never to return the same way again. The world itself is a masterpiece, a living work of fine art. Through fine art photography, I strive to reflect that beauty, essence and soul in my images, to make the ordinary feel eternal.

I went for some landscape shots at the edge of the lake, having recently acquired a new lense. I was on the way back to the car when I noticed this heron in the shallow water. The water level was really low after all the dry weather, usually the heron would be much deeper in the water, perhaps it felt an easy meal.

Firstly thanks for choosing my picture. I had a couple of days off work and decided to travel up to the Lake District. I've never been to Lake Coniston before, where Donald Campbell famously crashed the Blue Bird jet powered boat chasing the world record. To be honest there wasn't much around the part of the lake I went to, however it is a large lake. I found this purely by accident and took the shot. And here it is for all you lovely people to see.
